St John the Baptist's Church, Saxmundham, Suffolk

The flint faced parish church of St John the Baptist, situated on high ground overlooking the town, it is thought to have been built on the site of a Saxon church.

A beautiful stained glass window in the church.

On the font of the church is the carving of a woodwose, a tree spirit or green man - he, and others like him have given their name to a large number of pubs in Suffolk and elsewhere.
